Louet Spinning Wheels are my favorite wheels for teaching beginning spinners.
All spinning wheels are sold with 2 free lessons and 1 pound of fiber.

The smoothness is incredible. It makes no sound. In 1 minute, I can put it in spin position or fold it and in another minute have it zipped into its bag. This wheel comes complete with a nice carry bag for hand or over-shoulder carrying, either horizontally or vertically. The bag has two zippered pouches for carry some fiber or a niddy-noddy.

Louet DT75 double treadle, ready to finish. I call it the supreme wheel and I have spun on mine continuously since 1997. This wheel has turned legs and spokes and extra flair on the wheel, it is lovely to look at and has one extra support leg.

I took this picture of the row of wheels at the factory. They were fully "loaded" with swifts on the top for skeining the yarn and bobbin racks amply filled with spun yarn.
For over a quarter century, the Louët team in Holland has been researching, designing, experimenting, and consulting with you, the customer, to create a superior line of spinning wheels.
Louët wheels treadle lightly, are low maintenance and nearly adjustment free and can be modified with accessories for the expert spinner.
Louët wheels were originally geared towards spinning medium to heavy yarns. Although bobbins and flyers are available for spinning this type of yarn, the standard wheels have been redesigned to be more suitable for spinning fine to medium yarns. The orifice on the standard wheel is sufficiently large (12.5 mm or 1/2") as are the bobbins, (180-250 gr capacity), to allow you to create novelty yarns.
Technically all Louet models are the same. Each wheel has a single belt bobbin drive with an adjustable flyer brake to regulate the tension. The flexible belts are made of polyurethane and never have to be adjusted.
RATIOS -
The fly wheels of all our models are 50 cm ( 20") in diameter (except for the S45). They rotate on a maintenance free, lubricated for life ball bearing pack to ensure excellent spinning ability by allowing them to turn freely and quitely. The same maintenance free ball bearing is used at the footman connection.
All wheels are packed and shipped partially assembled in a flat box. The required assembly consists quite simply of tightening two nuts for which tools and instructions are provided. The shipping weight is 17-18 lbs. Many customers prefer to buy the wheels unfinished. They are made of European hardwoods and have a beautiful grain. They take little sanding and usually only 1 coat of stain and an easy sealer such as min-wax. The wheels come easy to assemble with the tools included in the box.
